🛡️ Travel Insurance Guide: Protecting Your Kilimanjaro Investment
Travel insurance is absolutely essential for your expedition. Securing a comprehensive policy allows you to protect your financial investment against trip cancellations, interruptions, delays, and unforeseeable high-altitude expenses. Standard travel insurance provides critical coverage for:
* Trip Cancellation & Interruption: Protects your funds if you must cancel or cut your trip short due to training injuries, sudden sickness, or personal emergencies.
* Delays & Missed Connections: Covers expenses arising from travel delays, severe weather, hurricanes, or missed flight connections.
* Baggage & Personal Items: Reimburses you for delayed, lost, stolen, or damaged luggage and personal gear.
* Medical & Emergency Evacuation: Covers emergency medical treatment, repatriation, and high-altitude emergency evacuation.
* Specialized Situations: Provides protections relating to terrorism and specific pre-existing medical conditions (subject to policy timelines).

🚁 Critical High-Altitude & Medical Evacuation Requirements
Your travel insurance policy must explicitly cover high-altitude trekking up to 6,000 meters (19,685 ft).
This specific elevation coverage is mandatory to ensure you are eligible for emergency rescue by Kilimanjaro Search and AMREF Flying Doctors. These premier medical support and helicopter evacuation teams will strictly not deploy without a client’s verified travel insurance confirming this high-altitude metric.
Failure to provide valid proof of insurance to our staff upon request means you will not be allowed to climb.
